Welcome to PERS
The Public Employees’ Retirement System of Mississippi (PERS) is proud to serve those who serve others by providing guaranteed lifetime retirement benefits, as well as disability and survivor protection. In this day of economic uncertainty, defined benefit plans such as PERS play a more important role than ever in protecting the financial futures of our members.
Established by the Mississippi Legislature in 1952, PERS today provides more than $1.8 billion dollars annually in benefits to more than 90,000 retirees. PERS active members total more than 162,000 employees working in state government, public schools, universities, community colleges, municipalities, counties, Legislature, highway patrol, and other such public entities.
